3rd Annual Heart&Stroke Hockey for Heart Toronto
‘Rekindling Hockey Bro-mances’

A small group of folks have been working over the past couple months to put together a Hockey for Hearth Charity tournament specifically for teams in the Good Times and UUHA leagues! We really want to have a tournament that brings our local arts leagues and teams together to raise money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation…and to have an awesome day of hockey fun!!!
Here are some key points of interest and special considerations we’re making for the tournament:
Tournament will be held in Toronto at the beautiful Upper Canada College (UCC – St. Clair and Avenue Rd).
FYI: Their 2 rinks (1 Olympic, 1 NHL size) are pristine!
Games will be booked Friday evening and all day Saturday (May 14th & 15th).
We are trying to coordinate onsite catering and a temporary bar for the day! Yep.
For individual players or teams that can’t get their full roster to commit, we will also be able to register as individuals. It would be great if we had a couple *mingle* teams entered for this! Please let us know if you’d like to GM an individuals/ mingle team!
Each team will play 3 games only (no playoffs) – Point system to determine winner based on Winning, Fairplay and Fundraising.
We want to make games in this tournament as evenly matched as possible to ensure maximum fun! Parity between tournament divisions and individual matches is important to us, so we will try our best to achieve this.
Team spots are limited and will fill up! Here’s how you get involved: The Hockey for Heart website goes live on October 9! www.hockeyforheart.com
1. Register online – you can choose the pay later option – this will help your team hold a spot
2. Jessica Chan from Heart&Stroke will contact you afterwards with a registration form which has more details (Jersey colours, Division preference)
3. If at anytime you have any questions do not hesitate to contact the 3 of us listed below.
Many of you have either played or heard of the Hockey for Heart annual tournaments. They are super fun, there are incentives and prizes to raise money, and they are a great way to spend the day with your hockey chums! Since 1995 the tournaments have raised over $890K to go towards life-saving research and AED placement.
Top 15 fundraisers at each tournament play against ProStars team of NHL™ and Pro-hockey alumni, and a chance to 'Shoot to Win' $10,000.
Last year we had a player win $30,000!
Our goal with this tournament is to get as many UUHA and GTHLA teams as possible to rekindle rivalries, and build on existing ones! Please bring this message to your teams and players and let us know if you have any questions.
